ArtPOP! Celebrates Phenomenal Women
Pompano Beach Cultural Center Hosts Free Night of Art, Music, Poetry and Dance

{PBCC press release}
In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Pompano Beach Cultural Center is bringing back one of the area’s most exciting events, ArtPOP! This event’s theme, Phenomenal Women, will celebrate female powerhouses with an evening of free entertainment including live chalk art, an art war between top female artists, dance installations, digital projections, live bands, food trucks and tours of our newest exhibit, ‘no constraints to beauty.”

“We are thrilled to be creating another ArtPOP!,” said curator Byron Swart. “These events celebrate the electric excitement that happens when diverse forms of expression collide. With March being National Women’s Month, we are honored to be showcasing an array of fierce and fabulous women!”

The outdoor courtyard of the center will be transformed into an interactive playground featuring CHALKart! hosted by Carrie Bennett and introducing Lester Mendoza and Gabriella Guerriero; lighting and digital design productions by Zebedee Productions; live art by a Pompano Beach favorite, Todd the Painter; homemade art vendors, food trucks, and the return of artWar! This popular art battle will feature a competition between Kelcie McQuaid and contenders, Sarah Haung, Stacy Coon, Alejandra Abad, Sona, Luis Daniel Pedroz

Chalk Lit Fest was a huge success last weekend drawing over 4K visitors to the downtown library in Ft. Lauderdale. I was fortunate to help run the event alongside Broward Cultural Division and Broward County Main Library Jan 13, 2018. With 25 professional chalk artists inspiring the spectators, we invited the public to draw and add their colorful mark to the library’s main plaza square.

Coral Springs Traffic Box Wraps

Coral Springs Traffic Box art

Coral Springs Traffic Box art

My pastel piece “Facets of Freedom” has been selected by the City of Coral Springs to be wrapped around traffic utility boxes around the city for a public art install! The piece will be printed and vinyl wrapped along Sample and Coral Springs Drive next month. This original portrait was created for the Pompano art exhibit “Loosed” inside Blooming Bean Cafe at BaCA last April and represents seeing the world and its potential for beauty with refined vision and hope. It is my delight to add my touch of color and light to the beautiful and vibrant town of Coral Springs.

Deerfield Beach Arts Fest Jan. 27-28

The January issue of Deerfield Beach Magazine features my chalk mural recreation of local artist Art Pellenberg’s work. I had fun recreating this 8×11 foot chalk scene to promote the upcoming 37th Annual Deerfield Beach Art Festival Jan. 27-28! Here are a few end shots…

2017 Nautical Flea Market in Pompano Beach

Nautical Flea Market
January 21st, 2017 Pompano Beach hosted its annual Nautical Flea market along with the city of Lighthouse Point. I created a large scale 13×13′ angel fish on Saturday using chalk pastel directly onto the pavement. After priming the street with watered down tempera paint, I filled the fish with brightly colored patterns, using both my hands (yes ouch) & sponges. After a substantial water spill, I was able to fully complete my fishy guy. I had a great time interacting with my community & meeting new faces! Stay tuned for future chalk events…
